GRANDPA.....

A lot has happened these last few months, therefor blogging got put on the back burner as it does oh so often.
I have a million different things to blog about, pictures to share & things to write.
But, all that is going to have to wait, because in the midst of this "busyness" my life forever changed. I lost my grandpa.

All my grandparents are still alive, so its not something I've ever had to deal with until now.
Death in general isn't something I've had to deal with to often in my life. Not like this.

I want to start this blog post by paying a tribute to my grandpa.
He went home to be with Jesus on September 17th at 2:30 in the morning.

I still sometimes can't believe he is gone, Ill catch myself saying "yea, Grandma & Grandpa" & then get a little pull at my heart realizing my new reality. Its just Grandma now.
I could go on and on about my grandpa, the man he was, the life he lived, the integrity he had, how sweet he was, kind hearted, sensitive, loyal..... I miss him, I will always miss him.
But, I am SO THANKFUL I know exactly where he is right now, hangin with Jesus. how cool.

In the weeks leading up to his passing, I wrote a few different things via Facebook, so I'm just going to copy & paste some of those raw moments that I wrote about & put them on here.

before I do that, here is a little back story, the month, leading up to his final days...
My Grandpa was a healthy man.
He was 82 years old, being of that age of course he had his up's and downs as far as "health" goes. But overall he was healthy.
 He even overcame cancer.

We were just at His & my Grandmas 60th Wedding Anniversary in August.
-little did I know this would be my last time hugging him & talking with him while he was still healthy-

1 week later (crazy) Grandpa went into the hospital with some stomach pain.
He stayed overnight, they ran test, & untimely sent him home the next day.

The day after that he was rushed back into the hospital with severe stomach pain.
He had a few different issues going on with his stomach including a bad infection.
The dr. was going back & forth on whether or not to do surgery & they ultimately decided he needed Gull Blader surgery.
Not ideal for a person of his age, but that was the only option.
He stayed at the hospital the next week recovering & getting better.
We were all so relieved!

Days go by & they then determined he was good to move to a "rehab" center & would continue to get better & ultimately go home within a week or so.
Best news ever. This already seemed like way too long of an ordeal.

Well, That night after he checked into the rehab center he spiked a 103 temp along with lots of stomach pain.
Rehad called for an Ambulance & moved grandpa back to the hospital.
He would see a specialist later in the week.
The whole process seemed to take forever.
It was hard to watch. And hard not to know what the future held.
His body was not healing the way we would hope.
Grandpa got weaker & weaker everyday.
This was the hardest most painful thing my heart has ever had to watch & deal with.
I hated knowing my grandpa was not healthy & there was nothing I could do.

"This has been the hardest most emotion week of my life. To be honest, Ive cried every night for the last week, & today has been the worst / hardest. Cant wait to see my grandpa tomorrow & give him all the hugs & kisses I can"

September 10th
My parents, Adam, me & the girls went up to Mercy hospital to see my grandpa. I was so scared, nervous & anxious all at the same time. That was a hard visit.

My Grandpa was officially moved to Hospice Care. It is a BEAUTIFUL facility. The people are wonderful, so sweet, so genuine, & the place gives such a wonderful, "home like" feel. The rooms are spacious & comfortable.. So thankful Grandpa gets to spend his last and final days here on earth in a beautiful place in peace rather then in a stuffy hospital room. It even had a nice patio, so the grand kiddos were able to run around outside & play when we would come often on his final days.

After we got home, my dad handed me the sweatshirt that my grandma gave him to give to me. it was my grandpas. I wore it all weekend. This is super special to me. I dont ever want to wash it.

September 15th.

"xoxo I love you so much grandpa. Adam, & the girls & I went & tucked grandpa in for the night with my dad. Very hard, but very special moments spent".

We all knew grandpa was getting closer & closer to seeing Jesus & he would be in heaven any day now....I went up the next 3 days until he passed.

He had changed so drastically from what he was like just yesterday.
He was no longer able to swallow, his face was much more thin.
He wasn't really waking up anymore either.

Thas night, was again, so hard...
After my dad took the girls down the hall to play in the kids play room.

I sat there with Adam in the quiet still room.

I was all alone with my Grandpa, & I knew in my heart this was my time to say goodbye & it wouldn't be much longer.
I held my grandpas hand... I sat there in my grandpas sweatshirt & stared at his sweet still face & watched him breath. I squeezed his hand & I felt the faintest squeeze back. Not sure if it was a direct response or not, but I like to think it was.
He had lived a great life. He was a great man.
I am honored I am his granddaughter.

September 16
Went up this afternoon to visit grandpa. My dad was there, (as he is everyday).
Tyler, Jessica & their kids came, saw my grandma for a bit, along with my aunt & uncle.

Grandpa was so close, he wouldn't wake up at all anymore.
His breathing was very heavy, deep & slow.

Grandpas room had a patio attached to it. so we took the kids outside to run around & toss a frisbee around for a bit so we could stay longer. I know that would have made grandpa smile. seeing all his grandkids & GREAT grandkids hanging out by his side, playing on the lawn outside his room. Children are a great distraction.
They bring smiles in the hard times.

"Todays the day. today we remember my grandpa, gather with friends & family & celebrate the amazing life he had. He was a great man, he had a heart of gold & had the sweetest spirit. I'm proud to call him my grandpa. Miss you Grandpa, love you so much, see you later."

My dad was the best caregiver my grandpa could of ever ask for when he needed it most. My dad told my grandpa on his final days on earth, "don't worry about mom (grandma) she will be taken care of". Yep, she is indeed. My dads been over to my grandmas house multiple times this week. Bringing her food, ran the errands she needed done, picked up her prescriptions, took out the trash, put salt in her water softener, got her lunch, had her take a nap, moped her floors, spent time talking with her, answered her phone, got her dinner & moved from taking care of my grandpa right into taking care of my grandma. Today he didn't leave her side. He told her to sit when she was getting weak, had his arm around her helping her walk & be strong on one of the hardest days of her (their) life. During the service my dads arm was around my grandma thee entire time & never left her frail body, all day long. Here he is walking her into the sanctuary of the church, before the people arrived, to read her all the notes that were attached to the many, many, flowers that people sent for this day. My grandpa & grandma have so many people that love them. Im proud to be a Braucht, & I'm so proud to call this man my dad. Joe Braucht. #prouddaughter #grandpa#heavenbound

The video showed at my Grandpas service.

Here is a video I love.
My grandpa is so funny with his responses & doesn't seem a bit to realize it.
He is so cute, Im glad my dad captured these moments.

Grandpa, I know your having a great time in Heaven & your getting it all ready for us.
We miss you, & always will.
But I am thankful for the peace that washes over us knowing exactly where you are.
You're in the best place ever, being cared for by the best father ever, who created you & loves you over the moon and back.
I get a big smile knowing he is treating you like the child you are to him.
The "adult" child who he is spoiling. Exactly the way it should be!
We will see ya later, xoxo!

THIS MAN.

Married to the love of his life for 60 years & together even longer.
He lived a life full of integrity & raised 2 outstanding kids.
One of them being my Daddy, & he is the greatest man I've ever known.
My Grandpa & Grandma obviously did a great job raising their children.
He had a heart of gold, like I've said many time & I truly mean that.
He loved my Grandma with every bone in his body.
He loved his family.
Those two things were the most important things to him.

now just for some cute pictures.

I read an article last night that was very eye opening for me, & I'm sure will be for other people as well. I am going to copy & paste the article below, It was SO good. See that photo up there? That's my sweet little London, who has her moments at times when its definitely not convenient. Us moms get judged so much when out in the real world with kids. When your child is polite, & kind, you get told what a great job you are doing & how sweet your child is. But when your having an off day, not because of you, but because of your childs emotions, you get the opposite. You get people staring at you, watching you with an annoyed look on their face, & its pretty clear what they are thinking. Not the best feeling. But its not our fault, nor is it a reflection of our parenting, so important to remember.
This article came at the perfect moment for me, puts everything back in perspective.
Lets be honest, Its hard to not let all the judging glares of total strangers get to you, bring you down, & make you feel itty bitty. But lets remember to put things in perspective when we get these "glares"....These people are strangers, they know nothing about your parenting, or about you.
You child is the one that matters, not them.

Ok, time to read the article, its one of the best I've read. I highlighted my favorite parts, even though the whole thing was spot on.

↓↓↓

"  Young kids don't always pick the best times to have emotional meltdowns.

Just ask any parent.

Grocery stores, malls, and restaurants (or any place with lots of people around) in particular seem to bring out the worst in our little ones, prompting explosive tantrums that can make even the most stoic parent turn red-faced with embarrassment.

But why be embarrassed? It's just kids being kids, after all.

Actor Justin Baldoni recently shared a poignant photo with his own daughter and the big lesson he learned from his dad about such moments.

Baldoni, shared a photo his wife, Emily, took while the family was shopping at the local Whole Foods.

In it, Baldoni, along with his father, stares down at his daughter, Maiya. She's crying and/or wailing on the floor. Who knows about what. Her body is twisted into classic tantrum pose.

The two men look calm. Almost amused, but not in a mocking way.

They certainly are not embarrassed despite a horde of people around them in the store.

"My dad always let me feel what I needed to feel, even if it was in public and embarrassing," he wrote.

The post continued:

"I don't remember him ever saying 'You're embarrassing me!' or 'Dont cry!' It wasn't until recently that I realized how paramount that was for my own emotional development.
Our children are learning and processing so much information and they don't know what to do with all of these new feelings that come up. I try to remember to make sure my daughter knows it's OK that she feels deeply. It's not embarrassing to me when she throw tantrums in the grocery store, or screams on a plane.
 →I'm her dad (mom)…not yours. ←

Let's not be embarrassed for our children. It doesn't reflect on you. In fact.. we should probably be a little more kind and patient with ourselves too. If we got out everything we were feeling and allowed ourselves to throw tantrums and cry when we felt the need to then maybe we'd could also let ourselves feel more joy and happiness. And that is something this world could definitely use a little more of."

The photo, which Baldoni calls one of his favorites ever, shows the advice in action.

There's a lot of pressure out there on both men and women to be the perfect parents at all times.

But being the perfect parent doesn't mean your kid never gets angry or frustrated or confused. As Baldoni writes, toddlers are really just beginning to learn and explore the world's boundaries. There's naturally going to be a lot of swirling emotions as they encounter things and situations they can't understand.

What's important is we don't teach them to hide those feelings or push them down for fear of ridicule — that kind of emotion-management can come back to haunt us as adults. Working through our feelings, or just having a good cry right there in the middle of the grocery store, is an important skill to learn.

→→→The emotional health of our children is certainly worth a few weird stares from people we'll never seen again.←←←

My first born, Summer has Graduated Kindergarten. She made it through a whole year of school-
8:25am -3:00pm Monday - Friday.
🎓
Not going to lie, I was kinda a wreck the month leading up to her starting kindergarten.
I had so many different feelings.
She's been with me, everyday all day since the day she was born. Besides her preschool days which were just a couple hours throughout the week.
This was a big change. I didn't know if she would like her new school, or if she would have fun.
I was worried who her teacher would be & what kind of an impact / role she could would play in Summers life. I was worried about her safety, the world is a scary place & its scary putting your daughter in a building all day with people from every walk of life. I was worried about the friends Summer would make. If the school days would be to long for her, she wasn't used to this.
My mind worried & my thoughts went all over the place.

But through it all I prayed. I kept thinking of the verse Phil 4:6-7.
I prayed for Summer to get the right teacher, a Godly teacher, with good morals, wisdom, patients & to have a kind, gentle heart. I prayed for the friends that Summer would make, the people she would meet. I prayed for her to be a leader & not a "follower". That she would be strong, & be kind to everyone. That she would stand up for good, & never be afraid to tell others about Jesus. That she would truly let her light shine. I prayed for safety, everyday, everywhere her feet led her, that she would be safe.

Phil 4:6-7

Well, She had a GREAT first year at school!
She made friends everywhere she went & anytime I would visit the school I could tell that she had a very big impact on people, young & old.
Everyone had the nicest things to say about her. She made so many friends & she truly loved going to school everyday.
Her teacher was just the right teacher that I had prayed for . Summer adored her teacher, Mrs. Michaelson, & her teacher adored her.
Summer was safe everyday. She let her light & her love for Jesus shine through & wasn't scared to tell people about it.
It makes my heart so happy.
Prayer works. God cares about our worries, & about us.

A through-back

Hi Friends, I have some exciting news!
I have officially become a consultant for beautycounter.

Not really sure how to start this blog post. But here it goes!

BEAUTYCOUNTER is a safe skincare line.
It really got my attention when I saw it had a kids line.
My kids are always my first priority.

I was introduced to this line by a friend.
I was skeptical at first because there is SO MUCH stuff out there today, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what is truly good for us. After doing my own research & learning a lot from Lindsay & even more info via facebook events by her & by beautycounter I discovered this is the real deal. Read about it for yourself, the facts don't lie.

I am by no means a sales person, actually the thought of selling anything scares me. I am not comfortable pushing products on people. So, I wont be doing that, but I will be explaining why I love this line, & why I think you will too. Its so nice to learn & see that all the ingredients that goes into each & every one of these bottles are safe for our skin.
That is everything.

I am hoping that in me sharing my love for this line & being a consultant you can learn about it through me & maybe love it too. You can visit my personal BeautyCounter page & shop the stuff you might be interested in & I can send you samples of some kids products!

There's so many different "business opportunities" for stay at home moms.
But NONE of them have interested me like this has. I wasn't looking to even get started in a business, or become a consultant, but this line made me excited about safe products for my girls, so I went for it. Cause why not? I wouldn't jump into something I didn't believe in, nor write a blog posting about it alone. I truly believe in this line, what it stands for & it's a great feeling to know that when you read the "ingredients" on any of these product bottles, you'll never see a bunch of junk that you can't even pronounce.
It's all natural & all SAFE.

Did you know The United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938. Wow.

I for 1 am not ok putting products on my kids that have harmful hidden ingredients in them. My kids deserve better, & it starts with me.

The kids line is what really drew me in. I am a stay at home mom, I live & breath for my kids. I would do anything to keep them safe.I have been looking for the "perfect" kids line that I felt good about, & this is it. Your kids use what you buy, you are your children's voice.

The sunscreen line is also SAFE, CLEAN INGREDIENTS & EFFECTIVE. You can't say that for about 80% of the sunscreens on the shelf at your local store.

Did you know 1 in 8 women gets diagnosed with breast cancer?
40 years ago, it was 1 in 20.

Also since 1975 children's cancer has increased by 20%.

My passion with this line is about the kids products.
Our kids skin deserves the best. I had no idea I was washing my kids with harmful products. We just assume that there can't possibly be harmful & cancer causing ingredients in our children's products, this is America after all, but there is. I am not saying that using a different brand than this is going to cause some sort of disease. But, when you do that day in & day out, every morning & every night & when the ingredients aren't pure, thats a risk I am not willing to take.Especially on my children.
You can't change what you do not know. I don't think any of us would willingly put harmful products onto our children's skin. We are just uninformed.
I used "gentle BABY soap" that I thought was safe, yet if you read the ingredients on the bottle you'll see it's not safe. What is packed into the bottle we "trust" is garbage.
 It's not ok with me.

THIS SITE is so helpful. You can search any product that you are not sure about, & it will tell you how hazardous it is. Beauty counter will never get over a 3!!
every product is rated 1-10. 1 being the best, 10 being the worst.

Summer & London deserve to have good products put into there perfect little sensitive skin. products that I feel safe letting sit on their skin & not worry about the harm it could be causing.
Your kids deserve it too.

Please click on the link below. It is my personal website for BeautyCounter. Read about it.
Do your own research. What we smother on our skin day in & day out matters.

Shop the line, Here is my page!

Ill leave you with this video-

Last night before Adam headed off to softball, we took a short walk. We didn't get very far, because the girls quickly discovered dandelions all over the grass as we turned the corner.
Our walk quickly became a, lets stand here & watch the girls pick flowers instead.
Which I am totally fine with. Sometimes we need to stop, & smell the flowers. Yes, I realize these are actually weeds, don't worry.

When it was time to go back home, Summer comes up to me & hands me all the dandelions she had picked & says,
"here mommy! I picked these just for you".
How sweet is her little heart?! I don't even care that they are "weeds". They went straight home & into a cup of water. Ok, Well, thats what I intended to do, but we were super busy & heading out the door, so they got left on the counter & when we returned they were dead. Shoot. Fail.

This post is to remind you to stop & smell the flowers, even if the flowers are weeds, because those "weeds" became flowers to us that night. Its the little things.
