our beautiful life

Family     House     Life     Style

My baby turned 3. Her birthday was a couple weeks ago. February 6th.
We had a fun week celebrating. She is such a goofy, spunky, lively little (big) 3 year old!

London-
You are completely opposite from your big sister, Summer.
Which is a good thing because you are your own person.
From the very minute your birth-day started everything went differently.
You came into this world at full speed.
I couldn't even take a Tylenol because you were on your way into the world,
& you weren't waiting for nothin.
We got to the hospital around 10 am, & checked in.
Dr. broke my water a little while after getting to the hospital
(just like he did with Summer)
& apparently that was your "lets get outta here!!!" moment.
I could hear the nurses saying "Page the Dr!"
...not the most relaxing thing to hear when your baby is coming out.
Well, 10 minutes of pushing & you were born.
11:16 am.
20" long
7lbs. 1oz.

Thank you Jesus for another healthy, happy, perfect baby girl. I was in love all over again.
Every time you have a baby your heart grows that much more then you think possible.
The perfect amount to love that baby just as much as you love your other baby.
Its a beautiful thing.

- Birthday Morning / Day -

 - Birthday Party-

The other night Adam and I were driving in the car coming home from a date night out.
He said "I have this song you have to hear, it reminds me of London".

He put the song on & I couldn't help but laugh, a lot.
The beginning part, and the chorus. So London.

Daddy daughter date night.

We started this "Daddy daughter date night" 3 years ago, when Summer was just 3.
It has always been a very special thing for them to do. It fills Summers little love bank up so much.
(just like any other girls, right?)
Its so fun to see her come home with the biggest smile on her face & telling me all about her fun night out.

(THESE 2 PHOTOS ARE FROM WHEN SUMMER WAS 4)

NOW- SHE IS 6.5!

Picking out an outfit for daddy to wear, Summers choice.

I came upstairs to find Summer putting a little lipstick on. Such a girl.

London & I stayed home & snuggled in.
But out of the blue while watching TV decided we wanted special food too, cause why not?!
So we got in the car, in our jammies, and went through the McDonalds drive through.
(not super "special" nor healthy but...)
LONDON WAS SO EXCITED!! which is all that matters.
This is something we never eat. But its ok to cheat every now & then right? ;)

I did a blog post like this a couple years ago, & decided to do another.
Some things are still my favorite & some things are new.

These are my "I can't live withouts" & my "guilty pleasures".
Obviously Jesus, family, food and a roof over our heads is the most important things in life , that said. this post in just about my current loves at the moment when it comes to "STUFF".

CLINIQUE foam face wash.
Love this stuff, it gets nice and sudsy & takes off all your make-up, yet gentle at the same time.
I also love that it doesn't have a strong smell. which is a must. I always like stuff "scent free".
After having babies I can't stand the smell of anything strong or perfume-y.
Number 1

Clarisonic. My parents got this for me for Christmas probably 7 years ago! I still love it and use it almost every night. You just need to replace the "brush head" every 3 months.
Number 2

EMINENCE clear Skin Moisturizer. Been using it for about 3 years & love it. I buy it in the huge container. Its pricey, but It lasts me almost a whole year.
Number 3
(I also love this)

CLINIQUE Body Butter. So creamy & soft. I have extremely dry hands in the winter & love putting this stuff on. It's not greasy and it's also scent free. It's also great stuff to use on your skin in the summer after a day in the sun.
Number 4

EMINENCE ORGANIC SKINCARE.
Love so much stuff from their skincare line.
Bamboo Firming Fluid & Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant & Lime Masque (hot)
& Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum
Number 5

Recently I tried the Warby Parker 5 free home try on glasses. So much fun getting them in the mail & seeing if they are good quality, comfy, and actually nice in person. They were all those things. I bought a pair from them & LOVE THEM!! The prescription is awesome, & the fit is perfect.
Highly recommend trying this out for yourself.
Number 6

NORDSTROMS. My favorite store to shop at for basically everything, haha!
Number 7

CHASER brand clothing.
My favorite place to get these is NORDSTROM RACK. Much cheaper than buying it off Chaser itself. They are so trendy and cute. One of my favorite chaser shirts I own. The back is just so cute!
Number 8

RAG & BONE.
For years & years I bought a million pair of jeans, from abercrombie, macys, express, gap, etc. They never fit me perfect & I would always get sick of them. They also seemed to stretch out after I wore them all day & so I would need to wash them & shrink them so they fit nice again, annoying. I found a pair of RAG AND BONE jeans on a sale rack while I was shopping at Nordstrom about 3 years ago. SCORE! Boy did that change the way I bought jeans forever. They fit my body PERFECT. They are so comfy, soft, & have the perfect stretch. They are still my favorite jeans to this day & I bought them 3 years ago. Tested & true. Worth the expense in my opintion. When you see them on sale, get em! you won't regret it.
Number 9

WILDFOX.
I have only ever bought sweaters from this brand. There sweaters are fun, cute, trendy & have the cutest stuff written on them. Like my political sweater, haha! Yes, I did wear this when I went to vote.
Oh and they are SO SOFT!
Number 10

PMD
Personal Microderm replicates the treatments given by professionals by using the same Aluminum Oxide crystals on the patented spinning discs. Leaves your skin feeling uber soft and fresh.
Number 11

Ray Bans Aviators. Been my favorite for years now.
Number 12

HUNTERS
I wear these almost daily. I wore them a lot this year when running errands even in the snow, even rather than my Sorels!  I just love, love, love hunters! They make inserts for them so your feet stay warm when you choose to wear them in the winter. They are actually very comfy and stylish at the same time. Goes with anything. But my favorite way to wear them is in my Yoga pants ;).
Number 13

I love this Nars lipgloss. It's been a favorite of mine for probably 3 years now. Color is - Turkish Delight
Number 14

MAC lip stick.
My favorite color to wear is -HUE.
Its the perfect nude. I love a good nude lipstick. My other favorite nude lipsticks from MAC are:
 - Creme D'Nude - Myth - Fleshpot -
Number 15

This is my favorite necklace of all time. I wear it on the daily, goes with anything & everything & is so simple yet elegant. It also has extra special meaning to me because this was my "Push Gift" from Adam when I had London. If you don't know what a Push gift is then you are missing out my friend! I had no clue this "gift" existed when I had my first baby, Summer. So when I had L, Adam made sure to get me something super special. Something that I had my eye on for many, many months.
Side note- I also have super sensitive skin, cheap necklaces make my chest get red, itchy and sometimes even break out in little bumps. Not cool. So another reason I love this necklace. I could wear it for days straight & my skin won't react.
Number 17

Got this stuff for Christmas from my dad about 3 years ago, & have been hooked ever since. It is such a great smell, relaxing, helps you fall asleep and good for the muscles.
Number 18

You can find this at Total Wine. Its the roscato d'asti, red.
Number 19

I got this blanket while it was on sale. & I am so glad I did cause it costs an arm and a leg. After having it for a day I wasn't sure I would keep it since it was so spendy. But every time I snuggle up or want to get cozy, or at night when we watch shows, no blanket quite does it now that I have this. I realize that sounds ridiculous. But if you know me, I can't even sit on the couch to "snuggle in" without a blanket to snuggle up with. This blanket is so soft it feels like you just set a fluffy cloud onto your lap. It's not heavy, yet keeps you warm and cozy. I told Adam I don't think I can go on trips without it, I must find a way to pack this in my suitcase!

I was wanting to do this for about 2 years now.. But we used to have carpet in this room,  so I needed to wait until it was hardwood.
We love how it turned out. I still need to find the perfect baskets for the top 3 empty spaces.
But besides that minor detail it's perfect. I feel like this space was made for an entryway just like this.
I am so thankful for my hubby who is able to make my "DIY dreams" become a reality. Total props to him.
Here are some photos, start to finish. At the end of this post I'll tell you how you too can make one of these!

The base is the Hemnes TV Unit, and the top is the  Hemnes Wall/bridging Shelf. We also added some crown molding on the top to match our kitchen cabinets.

In between those 2 main pieces we just got some select pine from the Home Depot. We got  1x4 & 1x3. You frame it with 1x4 and then fill that spot in with 1x3, separating columns.
Paint it all white, & add hooks.
We added corbels  from the Home Depot to give it more of a polished look, they just need 2 coats of paint. The hooks are also from home depot.

Little things we did once it was finished. We had someone come and do crown molding
(who already needed to finish a couple other pieces at the house from our house project. so we just added this) It made it look so polished & more custom, which I love!

Also I always wanted a "charging station" to plug in ipads, Summers GIZMO, fitbit, leap pad, etc.. So I had Adam drill a hole in the middle drawer with these  and then we got a power strip to secure to the drawer. voilia, PERFECT!

In December we started our home remodel. We were living with my parents for the 3 weeks while this was getting done. It got finished the weekend of Christmas, talk about good timing. Cutting it a little close, but we were home for Christmas, & that was the important part.
Adam and I created every detail and put together how we wanted everything done. We did the whole layout ourselves and how we wanted the end floor plan to be. It was stressful but so much fun and rewarding at the same time. We knew where the island would go, how big it would be, all the  lighting, even to the last detail of picking where to cut the holes for the flush-mount ceiling lights, we did every last detail and I think we did a pretty good job. We love how it turned out!

Here are some before and after pictures.
